چکیده

In this paper, we conduct a performance study on parallel transaction processing in a coupled system , where a coupled system is a multi-node system with a shared global buuer. We develop a multiple-system simulator and obtain several performance results from it. This simulator has been run against three workloads, and the coupled system behavior with these three diierent inputs is studied. Several statistics , including those on local and global buuer hits, page writes to the global buuer, cross-invalidations and castouts, are comparatively analyzed, and their relationship to the degree of data skew is explored.

Guardian 90: A Distributed Operating System Optimized Simultaneously for High-Performance OLTP, Parallelized Batch/Query and Mixed Workloads

The Tandem NonStop is a loosely-coupled multi-computer system managed by Guardian 90, a message-based distributed operating system designed to provide an environment for online transaction processing. One of the benefits of a loosely-coupled architecture is its inherently distributed character. A distributed architecture allows many components to be applied scalably in parallel to a large data-...

Chemical Reaction Effects on Bio-Convection Nanofluid flow between two Parallel Plates in Rotating System with Variable Viscosity: A Numerical Study

In the present work, a mathematical model is developed and analyzed to study the influence of nanoparticle concentration through Brownian motion and thermophoresis diffusion. The governing system of PDEs is transformed into a coupled non-linear ODEs by using suitable variables. The converted equations are then solved by using robust shooting method with the help of MATLAB (bvp4c). The impacts o...

Analysis of Dynamic Load Balancing Strategies for Parallel Shared Nothing Database Systems

Parallel database systems have to support both inter-transaction as well as intra-transaction parallelism. Inter-transaction parallelism (multi-user mode) is required to achieve high throughput, in particular for OLTP transactions, and sufficient cost-effectiveness. Intra-transaction parallelism is a prerequisite for reducing the response time of complex and data-intensive transactions (queries...

Fault Tolerance Lessons Applied to Parallel Computing

This paper describes an approach to fault-tolerant parallel computing which is based on the experiences with the most successful fault-tolerant software – the transaction processing systems. The algorithms presented here have less runtime overhead and faster recovery than most preceding approaches. In the Pact parallel programming environment fault tolerance is provided fully user transparent i...
